What you need to know when travelling with Island Light Holidays
  • Tour price: Prices quoted on the confirmation advice are based on Airfares, hotel prices, land costs & rates of exchange at the date printed on the confirmation. ISLAND LIGHT HOLIDAYS (PTY) Ltd (herein called "the company") reserves the right to adjust tour prices in accordance with increases in airfares, hotel rates and currency fluctuations until such time as full payment has been received.
  • Not included: Prices quoted do not include the costs of obtaining visas, passports, laundry, telephone calls, meals & beverages, entertainment, arrangements not shown in the itinerary unless specified, or any other item of a personal nature.
  • Reservations: On confirmation of the booking please complete and sign the companies booking form. A non-refundable of the total tour price is payable within an hour of receipt of confirmation. The balance owing is due no later than an hour prior to confirmation. The company reserves the right to cancel a reservation for which the total price has not been paid by the due date, in which case the deposit will be forfeited to the company. The price of land arrangements is guaranteed by the company once full payment is received except where subsequent increases are beyond the control of the company. Airfares are subject to the prices and conditions quoted by the airline and cannot be guaranteed by the company. The company acts on behalf of its principles and cannot be held responsible for any increases, cancellations or changes effected by these principles
  • Method of payment: The Company accepts payment by credit card (Master Card and Visa Only).
  • Amendments: A charge of R200.00 will be made for each amendment made to a reservation after confirmation has been sent or if pre-issued vouchers or documentation are required to be re-issued or refunded. If air tickets are required to be re-issued, a fee determined by the airline will be charged.
  • Cancellation and curtailment:
    • Land Arrangements
      : In the event of passengers cancelling their reservation for any reason, such cancellation must be made in writing.
      • Cancellation fees will be charged for cancellations made within the following deadlines:
        • 30 – 21 days prior to arrival              25%
        • 20 – 08 days prior to arrival              50%
        • 07 – 03 days prior to arrival              75%
        • Less than 03 days prior to arrival       100%
      • For peak season travel (20 December – 4 January)
        • 45days or less prior to arrival                  100%
    • Air Arrangements
      : 100% cancellation fee applies once air tickets are issued.
  • Refunds and unused services:
    No refunds will be made for no-shows or any unused services irrespective of whether they form part of the basic inclusive tour or whether they are in respect of pre-booked optional arrangements.
  • Insurance:
    We strongly advise clients to take out insurance against illness, cancellation, curtailment, default & loss of baggage at the time of making the reservation.
  • ASATA:
    The Company is a registered member of ASATA 
  • Itinerary amendments:
    The Company reserves the right to cancel the itinerary prior to departure in which the entire tour price paid by the client will be refunded without prejudice & further obligation on the part of the company.
  • Delays:
    The company does not hold itself responsible, nor can it be held responsible for any delays prior to departure or during the course of a tour mentioned in our brochure brought about by technical difficulties, weather conditions, or any other circumstances whatsoever whether foreseen or unforeseen. It is understood that any expenses due to unscheduled extensions (e.g. hotels, meals, airfares, telephone calls etc.) will be for the clients account.
  • Travel documents:
    Documentation is only prepared on receipt of full & final payment.
  • Travel Declarations:
    The Company requires that all foreign payments made on behalf of the client must be deducted from the client’s foreign exchange allowance. A currency declaration to this effect must be lodged before final documentation can be released.
  • Passports, Visas, Vaccinations, Inoculations and Re-entry visas:
    The responsibility to obtain correct & valid passports, visas, vaccinations, inoculations & re-entry permits where required is that of the client alone. The company will not be held responsible or liable for any consequence of any nature arising from the client failing to comply with such requirements.
  • Following departure:
    Amendments & all cancellations en-route must be made with our overseas operators directly. Please note that en-route cancellations & amendments may incur additional fees as determined by our overseas operators, the cost for which must be settled with our operators directly.
  • Liabilities:
    The Company makes every effort to ensure all arrangements and services connected with your tour will be carried out as specified in the most efficient way possible. However we do not have direct control over the provision of services by suppliers & whilst they are in all cases selected with the utmost care we do not accept liability for errors, omissions & failure to provide service.
  • Responsibility:
    The company acts as an agent only, in producing and operating the tours & arrangements featured in our brochure and on condition that it shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, accident, delay or any other irregularity that may be occasioned by any defect in any vehicle or other form of conveyance or error or default or any company or person engaged in conveying passengers carrying out the arrangements of the tour or otherwise in connection therewith. Carriage by air is subject to the terms & conditions of the applicable carrier.
  • Airline information:
    Baggage allowances vary per airline, from per kg to per piece – please confirm the baggage allowance applicable to your airline. Clients are reminded that they are responsible for reconfirmation of return flights within 72 hours prior to departure. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of a flight reservation by the airline.
  • General information:
    The Company cannot be held responsible for any charges that appear on a clients credit card, nor responsible for having any of these charges reversed or corrected on the clients return to South Africa.​
